No Oil ’til March
Good work, Congress. With the passage of a 36-billion-gallon renewable fuels standard (RFS), the United States can start to make a real dent in its prodigious oil consumption.
Think of it this way: We currently use almost 14 million barrels of oil a day to power our transportation sector. That’s roughly 587 million gallons a day.
At that level of consumption, 36 billion gallons of renewable fuels will effectively drive us through the months of January and February. No oil ’til March.
