How To DIY Some Fancy Yet Easy Cake Toppers?

Fondant Succulent Cake Topper

Ingredients

  • Gumpaste and fondant
  • Green food colour
  • Poppy Red sparkle edible colour
  • Paintbrush
  • Rolling Pin
  • Ball tool
  • Leaf cutouts, two sizes
  • Precision Knife
  • Egg carton to let the succulents dry

Instructions

  • Take gum paste, fondan,t and green dye and blend them together with hands.
  • Now roll this dough into 1/4 inch thick and cut out 8 leaves, 4 being small ones and 4 being the bigger ones.
  • Using a pea-size piece of gum paste and 1/4 cup water, create a glue.
  • Now take the ball tool and smooth out the rounded side on the leaf so that the leaves fit together easily.
  • Dab some gum paste in the middle of the base of the leaves.
  • Lay the big leaves on top of each other in opposite directions. Then, roll the smaller leaves on top of them and spread them out a little.
  • Securing the middle, pinch the middle and attach all the leaves together.
  • Using the fondant, create a tiny cone and cut it with the help of the precision knife. Now place this piece of fondant in the centre with some glue. Then, make some more to place them in the centre as well.
  • When gum paste has dried off, dust off the edges of each succulent and speak some red edible colour.
  • Wrap the fondant into a plastic wrap so that it doesn’t dry out when you’re not using it.
  • Your tiny succulent cake toppers are ready.

Message Birthday/Anniversary Cake Topper

Materials Needed:

  • 5″ x 11″ cardstock.
  • Decorative paper like glitter paper or holographic poster board
  • 12″ long Bamboo skewers (2 per cake topper)
  • Tacky glue or adhesive spray

Instructions

  • Get your template online ready. It could be for a birthday, anniversary or simply to convey your best wishes to someone dear.
  • Get the template printed. Now cut the template into the shape of the cake topper.
  • Using cutouts from the decorative paper design your cake topper.
  • Now take a bamboo skewer prick, check its depth matching it to the layers of the cake. In case it is too big, chop off the excess part of the skewer.
  • Place the cake topper on top of the skewer with the help of some glue or adhesive spray.
  • Let it rest for some time. Let it dry.
